Crowd enthusiasm is a rewarding experience 'for any cheerleader. This year at West, the spirit and sportsmanship was truly inspiring. Our band also participated in many fight yells adding to the enthusiasm. Cheerleaders Boost Spirit At West Across the country there were many high schools which had cheerleaders to be proud of-J. T. West was certainly no exception. During the entire school year, the cheerleaders were very active. Cheering for football games, basketball games, cross country meets, track meets, and pep assemblies kept the girls quite busy. Each cheerleader practiced her cheers, jumlps, and tumbling three to four hours every wee . Many qualities were needed to be a cheer- leader. Among them, the ability to perform cheers, jumps, and acrobatic tricks well, and the desire to support our teams rated highly. Varsity cheerleaders this year included Cindy Klootwyk, captaing Joye Krick, co-captaing Sue Pierce, Diane Heinlen, April Stevens, and Barb Myers. The cheerleaders did a fine job this year, and added the spirit and sportsman- ship needed to make a high school complete. Sue Pierce Diane Heinlen Cindy Klootwyk tcaptainl 1 E
