Coach Miller takes time out to give Kevin Kelly a few pointers on the correct procedure for bunting. Basehallers Compile 8-6 Record Close games resulting in defeat got West's first baseball team off to a bad start in the 1965 season. As the season progressed, the holes in the defense closed up and the bats started getting hot. Strong Tiger pitching con- sisted of Paul Shimek, Kevin Kelly, Frank Panish, and Bob Ziech. Jim Brumund lead the team at the plate with a .340 batting average. Rick Peterbok, the team's catcher, followed Brumund with an exceptionally good average of .299. The team finished the season with an overall record of eight wins and six losses. In conference competition the Tigers compiled a record of four wins and five losses to take fourth place in the conference standings. Cli- maxing the Tigers first year was the capturing of the District Champion- s ip. Bob Hodgdon was an outstanding senior and captain of the 1965 baseball team. - gk s s . .
