Scholars of the Senior Class Each year the Adams Award is presented to a boy and a girl from each class with the highest scholastic average. Due to the split of the schools. not all of the winners for the Class of l965 are pictured. West was fortunate to re- ceive four out of the six scholars. ,i,,,. Pictured from left to right are: Linda Hegstad, junior year: Gerry Lester, junior year: Betsy Lenz, freshman yearg and Judy Reed, sophomore year. Each year the National Merit Scholarship test is taken by high school students through- out the United States, All the grades are averaged on a nationwide basis. Betsy Lenz, pictured at right, was one of three Joliet finalists scoring higher than the many other participants. She is eligible for the National Merit Scholarship and plans to attend Illinois Wesleyan University.
