Business education is important for all students who have hopes of entering this field after graduation. West offers a wide variety of courses from typing, shorthand, and bookkeeping to office occupations and distributive educa- tion. Participation in this curriculum leads many students into the co-operative work experience programs during their senior year. Future Homemakers Learn Through Practice London Bridge is falling down. Isn't that a nice game? Isn't that game fun? Joy Kastman thinks it's a nice game. Michaelene Orlovich thinks that game is fun. Does the little girl think that game is fun? No. She is too young. These chefs are Vicki Oakley, Dawn Sheridan, Gaye M and Sue Schappe. Home economics students set tables as a meager intro- duction to their future as practicing hostesses. 16 Students in Home Economics III learn through plenty of prac Y Mrs. Sorenson helps students with their sewing machines while they work on their semester projects. Home economics affords excellent practice for girls, whether they are taking the course with the intention of becoming home economists or are merely interested in gaining experience for everyday family situations. Future homemakers learn particularly about cooking and sewing, but courses are also offered in interior decorating and child development. t'There's no place like home, and home economics girls will certainly have a head start in learning how to make one.

These Students Learn AndEarn Distributive Education and Office Oc- cupations are vocational training programs in which school and business cooperate to pro- vide specialized training for seniors who are considering a career in business after gradua- tion from high school or college. The students attend school in the morning and work in the afternoon. The average pay is Sil.l3 an hour, and many students earn INOFC than 531,000 in the school year. Employment is mainly in the areas of selling, display, advertising, merchan- dising, office routines, or other areas relating to the sale of products or the service of the business.
