Board of Education by Hard-Working The Joliet Township High School Board of Edu- cation is a group of seven devoted men elected from the district, With a fervor characterized by dedication. the Board assumes the enormous task of establishing school policy. employing personnel, fixing salaries. providing educational equipment. and considering all major problems facing the schools. To handle these and other duties. the Board meets regularly once a month with special meetings and study sessions being called if necessary, The top administrators of our system carry out their significant work with sound judgment and ex- perienced hands. Department Chairmen Guide Educational Progress Mr. Donald Hopkins Science 184 Appointed by the Superintendent, with the ap- proval of the Board of Education, the chairmen of the various departments assume enormous administrative duties. In addition to maintaining a heavy teaching load, they also coordinate the entire teaching program of their respective academic areas. The department chair- men set policy for teaching methods, courses of study, textbooks, and reference materials. They provide for substitute teachers, preside at department meetings, and report regularly to the principal and superintendent.
