The Speech Activities Club is a l new innovation at Joliet West. The club combines the dramatic speech and debating talent of J. T. West. The purpose of the club is to foster interest in all types of oral experiences and to pro- vide speech and drama activities for the benefit and enjoyment of students of the school and the people of the community. The qualified leaders of the club are Mr. B. F. Johnston, Dr. Wilma Dryden and Mr. W. W. Johnson. Most colleges require at least two years of a language for entrance. The enlarging en- rollment of students in the lan- guage curriculum reflect the ne- cessity of the,language in mod- ern education. Language clubs also play an important part in the language program.
