An lnward tear a smile a feeling of pride these are the sacred preclous things a senior alone possesses at h1s graduation Oh what unforgettable memories he will cherish of h1s hlgh school years And didn t those years pass quickly? Seemingly only a month or so ago he was that bewildered worrled bright eyed freshman who along u 1th h1s classmates added his number to the human infested halls What wonderful t1mes he had h1s first year what unhappiness what 1nsecur1ty what bltterness too Then came the eventful sophomore year It felt so marvelous to rise above the plebe status School seemed to offer broader horizons to anyone lnterested 1n part1c1pat1ng Even the games, dances assemblies and extra curricular act1v1t1es were more fun more security enveloped hlm Junlor year came and went so quickly belng an upperclassman was a maturing and prof1table experience Those shmy new classrings were so special looking that all were proud to have arr1ved at th1s status assuring level both mtellectually and socially Fmally he was a senior usually the best and most memorable of all There were perlods of sadness and melancholy though for every act1v1ty was being performed for the last t1me Graduation approached and yearbooks were frantically passed around allow 1ng autographs and messages to be hastily written No one could be left out 1n these lmportant event filled times The hlgh school days were over for the senlors following the graduation ceremony Looklng back these years seem to be some of the most lmportant ones in h1s maturlng process not ones to be chopped off as teenage madness He dlscovered this four year span had become interwoven 1nto his life process much as the ivy twines together reaching for the sun 4 . , . , . n emnriam J Gordon Skeel Born 1899 Died 1959 Born m Joliet Mr Skeel attended Joliet Township High School and was a graduate of the class of 1916 During his four of the year award presented by the junior Chamber of Com merce He also served in the Signal Corp during World War I The successor of his fathers position he served as the busmess manager of Joliet Township High School and junior College for 28 years 5 years at JT, Mr. Skeel won the most distinguished young man
