The Band ilnrnecliately prepared for the foothall season, and this year's spectators were awed hy the spectacular drills perforiited on the field. With the field in complete darkness, the hoys took their places to form, hy the use of fireworks and hat lights, the initials of the visiting tcamg the huge firecracker hurst into a large ,lg the giant hell tollecl slowly as the A Cappella Choir sang The Bells of St, lvlaryfi On one occasion the JTHS Bancl was assist-:.l hy the joliet Grade School Band at which time they performed for the first time an Echo Fanfarel' written hy Mr. Houseknecht. 23 0 i BAND Qctoher 16 the Band led the parade which opened the Community Chest Driveg Octoher 17 they made their annual appearance at the Fall Music Festivalg and on the following morning they marched in the Navy Day 3 l arade. Highlighting the annual fall concert pre- sented Novemher 21 and 22 was the appear- ance of two honorary memhers as guest solo' ists, Miss Beverly Long and Mr. Paul Lester, who sang a selection of Cole Porter songs, and there was also the appearance of Mr. Wzrlter West, dean of handmasters, who was guest conductor.
