Miss Grace M. Clow, head of the attendance office. came to .loliet Township High School in 1914. Versatility and adaptahility are shown in her career. She entered as a teacher of English, hut during depression days turned to com' mercial work. later serving as head of that department. She especially enjoyed teaching shorthand. and her proficiency here is attestf ed to hy a former student who avcrrcd. Miss Clow could teach shorthand to a post. Drafted in 1943 to take charge of the at' tendancc office, she forgot personal inclinaf tions and loyally assumed a difficult position. Whilc director of interior attendance, she has reorganized the office into an efficient organf ization. Miss Clow is a graduate of Illinois Univerf sity. Loyola Univcrsity. and Gregg College and .i nienihci' of Delta Gamma and Phi Beta Kap' pa, A pastfprcsident of B. and P. W.. she is also an active worker in A.A.Ll,W. Rannc, physics instructor, hccanie a memher of the faculty in 1924. Loyalty to high standards has characterized his work, and he has heen a great favorite of students who have a true desire to learn and who take pride in performance. Many alumni who have gone on to successful careers in engineering have returned to pay trihute to the excellence of the preparation in physics given hy him. Mr. Ranne is a graduate of Hanover Col- lege and of the University of Chicago. Before coming to Joliet, he expressed his liking for travel and variety hy teaching in many diff ferent sections of the country. The prettiest sight in the world to him is Lake Louise on a sunny day in June. He has made eight trips to Europeg on some of these oc' casions he has conducted a tour of his own. If conditions permit, Mr. Ranne looks forward to again organizing a tour and refvisiting Euf rope in the summer of 1949.
