FIVE TEACHERS COMPLETE 176 YEARS OF LOYAL SERVICE Harry bl. Atkinson, assistant superintendent, hecame a memher of the faculty of Joliet Township High School in 1908. Mr. Atkinson joined the faculty as a teach' er of college rnathematicsg upon his return from service in Wrm1'ld Wzlr I, he was appointed head of his department. ln 1939 he was made dean of the faculty, a position later changed to that of assistant superintendent. During Wcmrld War ll he carried on ahly, when oc' easion demanded, as acting superintendent. Genial, gracious, approachahle, a loyal friend. his consideration has won the devotion of his teachers, and his relations with the puhlic 1 5 f I 5 9 pi have been carried out with consummate skill and tact. To no other person has this school meant more than to Mr. Atkinsong Whe1x I came to teach here l was thrilled, he says. l have never ceased to he thrilled at heing associated with this great institution. He has cherished its traditions, carried on the ideals of its foundf ers, fought for its greatness. gloried in its achievements. ln the stress and upheaval of war, he held his school together. Harry Atkinf son in his unswerving loyalty has exemplified the pledge expressed in the 'ijoliet Loyalty song-'Lto thee we'll e'er he true!
