Dedication MR. ROBERT J. MCNULTY The 1962 Hilltopper is dedicated to Mr. Robert J. McNulty, di- rector of the JCHS band. He also teaches music appreciation to the freshmen, and directs the Joliet Catholic Grade School Band. Mr. McNulty did his undergraduate study at Western Illinois State College, in Macomb, Ill., and at De Paul University, where he received the degree of Bachelor of Music in Education. In grad- uate work at Northwestern University, he earned the degree of Master of Music. His major instrument was the clarinet. After serving for three years as band director in Greenfield, Illinois, Mr. McNulty came to Joliet Catholic in 1955. Since then the band has grown from forty-five musicians to its present strength of sixty. The band has entered the state music contests for the last six years, and has brought back a first place trophy for the school four times. The members of the band enjoy Mr. McNulty's entertaining wit, benefit by his thorough knowledge of music and learn discipline and musicianship during his energetic rehearsals for contests and concerts. 4
