History Father Cyril Fitzgerald, O. Carm., is the Senior U. S. HIS- TORY and SPEECH instructor. He also holds the important po- sition of Director of RELIGION. His duties in this office are: publishing the Religious bul- letin, planning a schedule for student confessions, and organ- izing the foreign mission collec- tions. Father Norman Werling, O.Carm., seated, has all the Jun- iors for WORLD HISTORY and also teaches freshman RELI- GION. The field of History inter- ests him so much that he is Writing a book of the Ilistory of Will County. Physical Education Mr. LeRoy Leslie, Gordon Gil- lespie, and Don Berg listen at- tentively as Mr. Ernie Zalejski explains a new play. Mr. Zalej- ski also teaches SOCIOLOGY. Mr. Leslie is varsity basketball and baseball coach as Well as instructor in PRACTICAL MATH and FRESHMAN ENGLISH. Mr. Gillespie is line football coach and is also a teacher of FRESH- MAN ENGLISH. Mr. Berg coaches the Frosh-Soph basketball team an-d teaches SOCIOLOGY and FRESHMAN ENGLISH.

Mathematics Three of our math teachers pictured here are: Father Carmel Smith, O.Carm., Father Aquinas Houle, O.Carm., and Father Mal' colm Yore, O.Carm. Father Carmel, Director of Athletics and manager of the book store is instructor of GEOMETRY and ADVANCED ALGEBRA. Father Aquinas, school librarian, is the freshman ALGEBRA teacher. Father Malcolm has senior TRIG. M odern Languages Father Emile Verbrugghe, O. Carm., has charge of all GER- MAN I and II classes and also finds time to teach an occasional one in SPANISH to the freshmen. Besides his classes, Father Emile is the organizer and moderator to the Explorer Club Unit at Catholic High. Natural Science F a t h e r Fergus Lickteig, O. Carm., and Father Duncan Reilly, O.Carm., flank Doctor Eugene Curran, head of the n a t u r al science department as he demon- strates a new acquisition in the chem lab. Father Fergus teaches CHEMISTRY, F a t h e r Duncan PHYSICS, and Doctor C u r r a n, BIOLOGY.

Fine Arts Gazing carefully over one of his latest paintings, Mr. John Hudak is explaining his tech- nique to Mr. Robert McNulty and Father Bruce Lardie, O. Carm. Mr. Hudak instructs our young artists the proper usage of perspective and sketching. Mr. McNulty is Director of our prize-winning Band which has Won state acclaim for its mag- nificent performances. F a t h e r Bruce is Well equipped to teach MUSIC APPRECIATION as he is moderator of our Glee Club. He also instructs our Freshmen in LATIN and RELIGION. Industrial Arts Examining a student project are: Father Boniface Freiman, O.Carm., Mr. Edward Kopp, and Father Stanley Kromer, O.Carm. Father Boniface teaches MA- CHINE SHOP and ARTS AND CRAFTS. Mr. Kopp instructs the freshmen in WOODSHOP and coaches the Frosh-Soph baseball team. Most of the pctures in this annual are thc result of the un- tiring efforts of Father Stanley. When not found with his de- pendable Rolleiflex, he can be found instructing the sophomores in METAL SHOP.
