In the past year we have enjoyed working and playing together . Although our experiences have not all been joyous ones, we can recall with satisfaction the many pleasant times we have had. As we reminisce, we invite you to share with us our many memories . We wish to express our sincere thanks to those who have helped to make this edition a reality . J E H 4 DEDI CA TI 0 In appreciation for the Christian training we have received at J. M. S. , we gratefully dedicate this 1956 MEM-O-RE to the cause of Christian Education. BUILDERS Hattie Vo se Hall A Builder builded a temple, He wrought it with grace and skillg Pillars and groins and arches All fashioned to work his will . Men said, as they saw its beauty, It shall never know decay, Great is thy skill, O Builder! Thy fame shall endure for aye . A Teacher builded a temple With loving and infinite care, Planning each arch with patience, Laying each stone with prayer . None praised her unceasing efforts, None knew of her wondrous plan, For the temple the Teacher builded Was unseen by the eyes of man. Gone is the Builder's temple, Crumbled in to the dust, Low lies each stately pillar, Food for consuming rust, But the temple the Teacher builded Will last while the ages roll, For that beautiful unseen temple Was a child's immortal soul. Q 5 BO RD OF ED UCAT10 The nine men, who are chosen annually by the patron body, spend many hours each month planning and working for J.M .S . The tasks sometimes are not too pleasant, but there are pleasant duties which they do perform . These men are conscious of the responsibilities that are placed upon them . Through their untiring efforts the school has prospered and students have gone from the school with their blessings . Through the help of the patron body prob- lems have been solved, and by the constant prayer and financial support of each patron, even greater things can be accomplished. The board is indeed grateful for the splendid teaching staff . They hope for the continuance of such high ideals which have helped the school in the past. May God's blessings be upon you, teachers, and may your reward be in the many lives you have touched and helped to start aright . Our constant prayer is that the students of our school will be well aware of the golden opportunity they have of attending a Christian school . Give of your best, and the best will return Sevenfold. Shall we, the teachers, the students, and the patrons, work together for the glory of Christ's kingdom in preparing lives for eternity? Left to right. They were going to ? --that's what the Seniors wanted to lcnow. Finally after the tantalizing juniors had driven their guests around for nearly an hour, they unexpectedly arrived at Weller's Dairy. Each Senior was greeted at the door by a junior, then led into the dining room where a tempting and delicious turkey dinner awaited them . Everyone was pleased to have Bro . Paul Bender fa former teacher of j.M.S.D for the guest speaker. A quartet presented a special number . Joan Hershberger read the class will and prophecy and Louise Miller entertained us with a piano solo . Lois Shetler gave a monologue, followed by group singing and prayer . Everyone departed feeling both inspired and saddened that another senior year had drawn to a close . 16 'til kv HIGH SCHOOL A tree that looks at God all day And lifts her leafy arms to pray 17 UN I OR French fries, Ideals, banquet, class night, and studies describe our junior year . Because of the small group, a greater opportunity for self-expression in classwork and recreation periods was possible . In history we studied about early civiliza- tion and in geography about the European coun- tries. The classes in Home Life in Bible Times gave us a better understanding of the Bible . In connection with this a Bible dinner was held which was enjoyed very much . The socials of the year were times for secrecy, fun, laughter, and excitement and added the spice to our educational program . 24 Mrs. Saylor First Semester Miss Beiler Second Semester 'D .0 I ff' Syst ,po-' 'W' Q, , .aw Af - 95 3 U' - l Q 7 '54 N xg 4 F' X N15 Y.-I 8 V 7 . 4, 5 1 -7 9 QW? we 0-0 ,lv I X ,f i x y Qfiai 7. 3 A 2 W , I V I GRADES V i 6' , ' i- . :yawn .A , ' N x ,, 5- 11. , 1 C! Our aim has been to have a social about every two months . It seems as if our socials were even better than before. It was fun both planning for them and cleaning up afterward. We have appreciated the co-operation of the rest of the high- school pupils this past yearg they have helped to make our socials successful. Dial 2751 .J.Maurer Motor Co. Could it be that the school week is almost ended? Upon inquiry you would find that these are the members of the Fidelian Literary. These students have a keen eye for the unusual and pro- duce programs which increase their originality, ability, and experience . Each member has become an important part of our literary and it has become an im- portant part of them . 40 O-DISCARIA LITERARY If Left to right.
