Qedi cation lgooufol of Colocation Our School Board consists of nine men, chosen annually by the patron body, representative of the congregations of the Johnstown District. They are from varied walks of life--minister, schoolteacher, salesman, con-- tractors, masons, and farmers. Regular meetings are held the last Monday of each month to decide on matters of maintenance and other problems connected with the welfare of the school. The financing of this work has been a major problem of the board and many hours have been spent planning our budget. We as a board want to pay special tribute to those patrons who have so faithfully stood back of us in help- ing us meet the budget. Such a great work as ours cannot prosper without the wholehearted prayer and financial support of every patron. We are also grateful to our faithful staff of teachers for their high ideals and untiring efforts to bring out the best in our boys and girls. May God's blessings be upon you, teachers, and may your reward be in the many lives you have touched and helped to start life aright. Our prayer is that our young people may make the most of this golden opportunity of attending a Christian school, where Christian teachers are giving their best, to prepare themselves for noble and useful Christian service 4 This page sponsored by Terrace Chevrolet Co. We have had an enjoyable time this year and we hope that no one has thought us more foolish than wise. In September, Sanford Alwine, a victim of polio, was forced to leave us. To assure him he was not forgotten, we visited him once a week for enjoyable times of fellowship. We are looking forward to next year's being even better than this. Miss Yoder . Lehman, Ruth Blough, Martha Harsh- berger, Bernadine Thomas, Phyllis Lehman, Paul Lehman, Gerald Kaufman. Our daily chapel exercises are the most vital of our school activities. The Religious Life Committee has a large responsibility in guiding the students to a deeper Christian experience. Bro. Lehman, our adviser, sees that we carefully and prayerfully plan these vital programs. Bro. Shetler and Bro. Lehman lead us in our regular daily devotions. On Friday mornings we usually plan for a special program given by students. We have also enjoyed many spiritual feasts with guest speakers from various parts of the world. We are glad for the opportunity of at- tending a Christian school, where we may enjoy daily spiritual enrichment . f ff ,L ,,,,,- Q 2 how us Our school chorus is not a select group, but is composed of most of our high school students. Bro. Shetler is our director and we have pleasant times together. Much of our music is selected from -Q-on-g-s Q-Q Church. The high lights of our year's activ- ities were the Spring Chorus tour and the special pro- grams at the close of school. This committee has a very vital part to play in the social functions of the school. It must plan enjoyable and worth- while socials that will be a help to us in both our spiritual and social lives. I We sometimes find it quite difficult to know just when and where to plan a social because of the many activities these days . We usually find time, though, to have a social, and forget for the time being that we are so busy. We really had some enjoyable times because of the good co-operation the students gave us. 32 Page sponsored by Otto Brick and Tile Works Building, brick and drain tile Springs, Pa 38 1Ui0leliomfite1foz1fy Left to right. Marlin, who has inherited the Shetler estate, is chatting with Miss Kauffman. The con- versation is rather broken because of Marlin's frequent discipline of his live- ly offspring. just then Maretta enters, coming from her home on the hill above the college. She has followed the family tradition and is teaching Typing and Business at her Alma Mater. The nearness of her home allows her to keep an eye on her family while pursuing her teaching responsibilities. And now those who are farther from J.M.C. begin to arrive. World traveler Sanford Peachey, just back from the Orient for the MCC, enters, as full of fun as ever. This is a doubly happy occasion for Sanford as he is also planning to arrange for his oldest son to enter college during the summer ses- sion which begins next week. The roar of an airplane takes our attention and we all go out to the new college airstrip to welcome Martha and Lois who are arriving via TWA airliner from Germany. They are bubbling over with en- thusiasm about their orphanage in Berlin and we are just as anxious to hear all about it. The hubbub of talk is silenced as we watch a car with Alaskan license drive into the parking lot and we turn to welcome Louise and her family. She, too, has many interesting experiences to tell of her work as the wife of a mis- sionary doctor. We are beginning to wonder about Robert when a telephone call informs us that he and his family have ju st arrived in Johnstown from India, where he is head of the mathematics department in the new Mennonite college in Cal- cutta. Aside from his teaching activities he is also helping the Indians to adopt better methods of agriculture. Marlin quickly drives to town to meet the Hostetler family. When they arrive the group gathers around the attractively set table, laden with food which is a tribute to Mary's skill as a cook. We observe that her family bears evidence of her clever management of vitamins and calories. Be- fore we are seated, we pause to admire the lovely decorations in blue and white arranged by the college registrar, who is none other than our own Rhoda. Her art interests make a fine hobby for her in her leisure time. After the blessing has been asked the group turns to the pleasant task of feeding their bodies while refreshing themselves by sharing the experiences of the last twenty years . 41 i n . 1 W 1 42 SAY LORS SERVICE STATION Hollsopple, Pa .
