CLASS HISTORY In September 1941, Miss Siders fMrs. Clarkl greeted 1953's graduating class as first graders. We have gained and lost many classmates but Barbara Carley, Jo Ann Piper, Ella Ruth DeLong, Carolyn Adams, Bill Fohl, Richard Lewis, Neil Longwell, Roderick Clark, Fred Moore, and John Johnson have spent their entire school life at Johnstown. Hazel Bisang, Carol Lafferty, and Phyllis Ashbrook also started their schooling with us, then moved away, but came back to graduate from J. H. S. hln our Freshman Year six Appleton students joined us and graduated wit us. 1 Our class has participated in many of the activities including Band, Y-Teens, Hi-Y, FFA, Athletic Council, Glee Club, All-county Music, Stu- dent Council, and Thespians. A 1 John Johnson was selected captain of this year's football team. Anna Mae Hughes, Joyce Swick, Jo Ann Piper, and Carolyn Adams were elected to the Licking County Honor Society in their Junior year. During the Senior year Phyllis Ashbrook and Gerald Boner were initiated into the Society. We held a Banquet and Prom in honor of the Class of 1952 on the night of May 9, 1952 and this year we were entertained with a Banquet and eve- ning of entertainment by the Class of 1954 on May 2. On May 17, we left on our Senior Trip to New York City and Wash- ington, D. C., for which we had worked all year to finance. Baccalaureate Service was held in the High School Auditorium on May 24 with Reverend Father McNulty speaking to the class. Commencement, the closing event of 'our school days was held on May 25, Dr. Walter Zaugg of Bowling Green State University delivering the address. I Carolyn Adams 8 4!
