When I first arrived at JHS, I was always getting lost, but all I had to do was appear to be lost and someone would offer to help. I’ve met so many people (both students and teachers) who’ve become my friends and helped to make me feel like a part of JHS. I am really impressed with your teachers and other people around here who actually care and work in school activities with us. Also, the football season was very impressive, (especially Homecoming Week). I’ve had an exciting experience so far at JHS and I know I’ll never forget it or the people I’ve met. I’d like to say “Thanks” to everyone for the friendship and memories that you’ve given me and I hope that next year’s exchange students will have as much fun as I have had. I’ll miss you! Libby Brigden Pewaukee, Wisconsin Dear JHS, I’m having a great experience and learning so much about the world and the people. The school, its administration, its teachers are helping me a lot in this year that is very special for me and I’m glad to be here. The International Club is another interesting thing; where we’ve opportunity to make friends. I hope the future AFS’ers from JHS will have the same experience that I’m having. Thanks for everything, Selmo Norte Santos, Brazil Johnstown High School: I have only been in this school for a few months, but time has flown and that means I have had a good time. For an exchange student, school is an impor- tant part of the experience. This is a great big THANK YOU to all who helped me during the first confusing months and who still are ready to answer my stupid questions and tell me what to do. JHS can be proud of all the nice teachers and helpers and the active and friendly students. I have learned that school is more than subjects and enjoyed to play tennis and badminton and work with the members of International Club. What I learn this year will influence my life in many ways. So thanks of all of you who made it an unforgetable year. See you! Lene Otto Denmark LIBRAR Y AND A. V. AIDES K. Swart, K. Rubino, L. Greene. Row one: J. Russo, C. Frazier, R. Shepard, B. Garten, J. Added were the positions of feature and opinion editors. The staff and advisor. Ms. Leonardi, believe that diversification and specification of assign- ments enabled them to put the paper out once a month. The regularity of publication was also enhanced by having the paper print- ed professionally, an expense that was in part covered by including ads in the paper. The bulk of the cost of publication is still covered by the football programs which the staff as- sembles during the summer and sells during all home games. Row one: E. Hall; S. Mrs. Helen Russell directed the en- tire production. Mr. James Hughston accom- panied the chorus while Mr. Michael Palotta conducted the pit band. This made another memorable hit to add to the JHS repertoire of musicals. 18J The Junior Prom was really great! Act III was the band for ’78. Some couples came in a limousine. The dance floor was a real disco scene. Night Fever was the theme they voted for, And a disco light hung over the floor. Everyone danced throughout the eve. The band was hopping; no one wanted to leave. 184 TRENT NILSEN HARDWARE-MILL SUPPLIES JOHNSTOWN, N.Y. 12095 762-8097 COMPLIMENTS OF: PEARL'S DEPARTMENT STORE BANKER’S TRUST COMPANY OF ALBANY, N.Y.
