iiiimisTiiiTiin Year after year our priests and sisters watch each graduating class of young mei| nd women step out into the world for which they have been prepared. Ceaselessly they work on; different communities, all dedicated to the same work, training God’s youth. Often their names are forgotten but the work they do is a great influence to many in later life.

Looking back to our freshman and sophomore years, we recall our former principal, Father Cawley. Our memories of him, however, are dim; for as under- classmen, we had only slight personal contact with our principal. We remember him best as the kind voice of a friend and teacher over the P. A. system. At that time we placed Father Cawley on the pedestal reserved for those whom we best loved and revered; and it is again on a pedestal that we view Father Cawley as we meditate on our Catholic High “Memories.” 6 TWO WE SHALL NEVER FORGET Fifty years in God's service! This alone is a tribute. Literally thousands of students have passed under Sister M. Gregory’s guiding influence—a guidance reflecting the kindness of long years of service to God. For the past 28 years, Sister has been with us at Catholic High. This year, on December 8, Sister celebrated her Golden Jubilee as a Sister of Charity. The students whom you have taught will long remember your kindness to them and may the Lord, whom you have lovingly served, continue to shower you with His golden graces.

Principal’s Message Another year has passed and another graduating class is preparing to leave forever the sheltering walls of Catholic High School. Perhaps that word “forever” somewhat startles or even frightens you. It does sound very final, doesn't it? But it is so true. When you pass through the portals of the school on graduation night, your lives as high school students are gone, never to return. Viewed in that light, perhaps the constant dinning into your ears of principles, the almost frantic concern of your teachers that you take advantage of every opportunity, and the incessant vigilance to keep you on the path of justice and truth take on a new meaning. For, in very large part, your lives will be what you made them in high school. True, in Confirmation you received the Holy Spirit, Who enlightens your minds to know the truth, and strengthens your wills to love the good; but the Holy Spirit ordinarily uses natural means to extend and perpetuate His influence. Your Catholic High School is just such a human instrument. Our earnest prayer is that your years in high school have so illumined and fortified you that you may walk un- hesitatingly down the pathway of life, with a clear eye and a firm step, into the heaven of eternal peace.
