Father Thomas T. Cawley Father Iohn C. O'Leary 0 ,..:.-o- it is On February lst, Father Cawley and Father O'Leary re- ceived official notice to relinquish their duties at Catholic High School and to report for duty on February 6th at their new assignments: namely, Church of the Visitation, Iohns town, and Our Lady of Victory Chapel at Pennsylvania State College. After twenty-eight years of devoted service, Father Caw- ley has developed ci spirit and a system at Catholic High School which can be truly termed unique. His capable guidance began March 6, l923, about two weeks after his Ordination. Iust as the school grew in numbers with the passing of the years, so did experience enrich his judg- ment and wisdom. After a period of time, increasing responsibilities and added tasks inseparable from the work of administration limited Fathers direct influence in the classroom. His de- votion to high standards of excellence has, however, indi- rectly accomplished much that has played a significant role in the lives of approximately 2500 graduates and many hundreds of' other students aside from the definite contribu- tion Catholic Higri School has made to the Christian culture of lohnstown and vicinity, Father Cawley has been to us, members of the Class of l9Sl, administrator, teacher, counselor and priest. For his sacrifices, zeal and noble example we are conscious of a deep debt of gratitude, This debt can be paid only in the coin of eternity, earnest prayer, and of this coin we promise generous contributions. While we deeply regret Fathers departure from Cathclic High School, we cannot but rejoice that he will be engaged in that work oi the ministry which is dear to the heart of every priest, working directly for the salvation of souls. Catholic High School owes Father O'Leary profound gratitude for seventeen years of faithful and efficient teach- ing in his capacity as Professor of Religion. Each succeed- ing student body that has passed through our schools treasured halls on thexr way to the great university of life had the opportunity to go well instructed in the knowledge of the unurn necessariuinf Father O'Leary's keen analysis of all moral problems resulted in practical solutions for those who must be in the world but not of it. We feel that our association with both Father Cawley and Father O'Leary nas been for us a special blessing from God. We felicitate those who will be the chief objects of their shepherding as pastors, That God may bless abundantly their efforts in those portions of His vineyard where His Will has placed them is the sincere prayer of THE CLASS OF 1951

Tlcan be the distinctive role ol the Catholic student to bring Christ into the lives oi others. particularly in these days ol spirit- ual anaemia. in other words, to be a Christopher. a Christ- Bearer. TO SAINT CHRISTOPHER therefore. we dedicate the twenty-sixth volume of R I I MEMORIES. ' SAINT CHRISTOPHER was a native of Chanaan. His name lwho bears Christi expresses his love for Jesus. A generous soul. he walked like a giant in the way ol virtue. The piety oi our fathers inspired by this grand allegory caused them to place a colossal statue oi Saint Christopher at the entrance to Cathe- drals. Even a legend grew that he was really a giant. and that he carried the Infant Iesus on his shoulders over a river. He won the palm oi Martyrdom in 250 A. D. It is our earnest hope that through his powerful interces- sion. we may put on the image of Christ so that through Him. with Him. and in Him. we may advance the Peace oi Christ in the Reign oi Christ and be eternal Bearers of Him to men. SAINT CHRISTOPHER, PRAY FOR US.
