Ten PRINCIPALQS MESSAGE You have come to the end of your high school course in one of the most critical periods in history. The world is reeling from the im- pact of a devastating yar. Nations are falling one by one before the mad onrush of mechan- ized might. Destruction of life and property T l V- 'l'll'W-'XS 'W'-WT-l'3Y is taking place at an appalling rate. Civiliza- I 'lm l 'll tion faces possiblv her gravest crisis. Wlhat a far cry is this mass murder. called war, from the command of the Prince of Peace: Put up thy sword into its pl ace. Vifhat a sad commentary upon the :ihility of man to solve his problems with out the help of God! 0n every page of history we read the same story, namely, that the gospel of hate, of selfish greed, of injustice and of force leads to death and disaster. The gospel of unselhfishness, of truth, of justice, of charity-the gospel of love-this is the only gospel that will settle the worlcl's conflicts. You have heard that it hath been said, 'Thou shalt love thy neighbor and hate thy enemy'. But It say to you: Love your enemiesg do good to them that hate you: pray for them that persecute and calumniate you . A strange gospel this. Yet it works: and what is stranger still, it is the only gospel that does work. You go forth commissioned to preach this gospel. See that you preach it faithfully, both in word and in deed. Only thus can you be true to the ideals that have been implanted in you. Only thus can you contribute your rightful share to the upbuilding of mankind and the stabilizing ot society.
