Shetler made an appeal to South- western conference forma permanent Winter Bible School in the conference district. He saw the need for a Bible School in our conference district due to the fact that many young people would not have the privelege of going to a Bible School any Qjphgngg ,rom home. This appeal was granted. Much of the Success t'.ougheut the years was brought about by the efforts of Bro. Shetler. I The School began in the winter of 1922 for a six-Week term wi the Stahl church. A committee of seven men was appointed at sponsor the work.- The first principals were N. E. Miller, J. T. Bressler and J, A. Resslcr. From 1925 to 1955 inclusive and 1940 to 1943 inclusive S, G. Shetler serivee. as principal. In 1956JZ. J. Metzler served in this capacity, also Ea C. Bender served from 1937 to 1939 inclusive. In 1945 and 1944 Lloy A. Kniss was principal, and for the last two terms this position is held by Sanford Shetler. In 1924 the Bible School committee zwteorized a Bible School boards The board consisted of 'hree local members of the church, three members of the local ministerial body and three members appointed by the Southwestern Conferences also the principal of the school serves as a board member. The faculty is selected by the board. I .K , ',5 The teaching program is arranged by the faculty and is ap- proved by the befri. I In 1926 a minister and missionaries week was introduced. In 1927 a six year cycle was introduced by the faculty for a more systematic Bible teaching. By 1928 a Sunday School ormal was held which was attended b 107 eople N - c ' , y p ' ,.. In 1931 social talk's were given to men and women seperately. In 1956 social gatherings were started. Later a sohool Litu erary was introduced. In 1943 the property adjoining the Stahl Church, which was formally owned and occupied by S. G. Shetler, was bought for the Bible School dormitory. It was first used in the winter of 5b K V c A new feature during the present term was the addition of basement class-rooms. I The present term of school which was the twenty-fifth, is marked by a good spirit throughout. The Anniversary Program featured a number of former instructors and teachers. May the Spirit of God direct in the future so that the noble efforts of those who have given of their lives to this work throughout the years, may not have been spent in vain.
