Uiss fCaiiie uK fCiMehibup Responsibility and devotion are two of the qualities Miss Katherine Killebrew has demonstrated during her career as a teacher in the Anniston School System. Miss Killebrew has always shown great interest and consideration for each individual student she has taught. Her winning smile and friendly disposition make her a favorite with students and faculty. For her many accomplishments as a teacher, advisor, and friend, we respectfully dedicate the 1965 edition of the Stonjo to. Miss Killebrew. 10 Mr. J. C. U. Johnson is a scholar, teacher, and educational leader of stature. He came to Anniston from a distinguished career in Gadsden City Schools, where he was a teacher and principal. He has been principal at Johnston for 13 years. A native of Texas, Mr. Johnson received his B.S. Degree from Jacksonville State College and M.A. from the University of Alabama. Lofton McCurdy Chapter of the National Junior Honor Society was organized in the spring of 1964 under leadership of a faculty advisory committee. Since its organization the chapter can boast of 49 members. To be a member of the honor society is one of the highest honors the school can bestow upon a student. Membership is attained by reaching high goals in Scholarship, Leadership, Character, Citizenship, and Service. After becoming a member he or she must continue to strive for these high ideals of self, community, and school The following students are the 1964-65 membership of the chapter. P. Jackson the Johnston Junior High Robed Choir is a very necessary part of school life. The entertaining assembly programs, the Annual Christmas program, and special music pre- pared for county and state contests are few of the activities of which make the school proud of the choir and its members. The choir has made an excellent record this year. They have competed and won superior ratings in all competitions they have entered. Through many hours of training and practicing the band has accom- plished many outstanding honors. The band has participated in many school and community activities during the 1964-65 season. A few of these are as follows: Jaycee’s Home Show, County and State contests. Fall and Spring concerts, school assemblies, parades, and half time activities at football games. The school and faculty are very proud of the band and its director for their very successful year. To the Band Booster Club, who have helped in so many ways to pro- mote the band in our school and community, we would like to say a hearty thanks. Without your help many activities oi the band would not have been possible.
