Naiional Honor Socieig The National Honor Society isonly a step- ping stone to a brighter and more successful future. Members are required' to maintain a high scholastic average and to excel in citizenship, character, and service to Johnston High School. These qualities are the basis for a membership in the Society. Annually this organization offers two S100 scholarships, the recipients this year were Rita Navarro and Mike Loredo. Officers of the National Honor Society for 1967-68 were: fleft to rightj Mike Loredo, president: Linda Saenz, treasurer: Beatrice LaFuente, social committee chairman: Maggie Cortez, secretary, and David Smith, vice president. Members of the National Honor Society are: Cleft to right, FIRST ROwy Mary Helen Cardenas, Paula Chapman, Linda Saenz, and Yo landa Diaz. QSECOND ROWy Judy Esparza, Janie Dehoyoz, Rita Carrazco, Stella Sanchez, Maggie Cortez, Nina Breeding, Dolores De Rio, and Mrs. Pansy Baker. The Johnston Student Council is host to visitors from Anderson High School Dear Teacher Day Award was won by Mr. Ted Parker who received apples, lemons, pineapples, cantaloupes, and one watermelon from his classes. IHITIIIG5 , X- f.. i The Student Council sponsored the an- nual carnival and talent show. The I-li-Y Club, which sponsored The Marriage Booth, was one of over 20 clubs that sponsored booths.
