' Herrold: Ken Stifel Charles Anderson Don Miller Sixth Grade Met Patty S and Mary L , Maxine and Herrold, JoAnn moved away, but she'll come ered at Camp Dodge that year, and Pat hit Howley pushed Marilyn througha window, why the paper wad fights raised quite a fuss, guarding us Virginia came as well, back again to stay, we Jeanine with a bat, I did hedo it? who could up at gath hear, know? Mrs Manny, Miss Maxson were Seventh Grade C role Cox came back again, hadn't seen her since nway back when' Gary Stoner moved away, the second time he couldn't stay, up at Herrold Bob Hertz moved in and added his voice to the noisy din, we had three teachersto helpus through: Mrs Keeton, Mrs Cassaday, and Mrs Ballou Eighth Grade Here we were joined by Bill and Kay, and kept on going our merry way, one fine spring day we hada treat, up towards Camp Dodge we turned our feet, we'd just gotten there and had started to play when the rain began, and continued all day, Carole and Chris and Kenney M were thrown in puddles, just look at them'a toad was put right down Kay's back, for devilish tricks we had a knack, our classes were taught by that unlucky three Mr Herrick, Mrs Ballou, Mrs Cassaday Ninth Grade Well look who's here, forthe freshman year the five from Herrold, school, Whoopee Doo' with lots of interesting things to do, a picnic was held at the last of the year at Lake Aquabi, fairly near, Dewayne declded to go for a row, when he lost an oar, the boat wouldn't go Tenth Grade NGive a cheer Goss is heren, and Gary is back for another year, movedto assembly bigkids now,we'll showthe other classes how' 'twasn nSlaughter on Tenth Avenue,N 'twas a packing plant and a dairy too those lucky kids in biology class got to miss school, glggk and alas Eleventh Grade Gary left, but Jack Wray came, classes continued much the same, we gave a very successful play, we'd practiced on it for many a day, gave a banquet with Hawaiian theme, neared the fulfillment of a twelve year dream Twelfth Grade Our wandering Garyis home at last, He's moved 'round enough in the years gone past, Gloria came to give usa hand the last addition to our merry band, receivedour class rings, had our Upitchers took,n and worked on things for a good year book Now at the endof our high school days, it's time to stop, and cast our gaze backwards over the way we've come and thinka bit on the things we have done All these things behind us, it's time to look ahead is the future bright and hopeful, or filled with fear and dread? It's up to us and no one else to choose which it will be We need to keep this fact in mind as we view l1fe's troubled sea, trying, though hard may be the way We've got hoping day by day, for life's no bed of roses, now let's leave the old behind and go forth to so we've got to keep on to keep on working, and this we knowis true So face the new a Q I5 and Stanley A., JoAnn has now, come backto stay,-the first year of high -- . e 't Q' 'fix W 5 8010! Fourth row: THE COACHING STAFF SUM UP THE SEASON Surprises, disappointments, and thrills made up the 195k football season. Looking back after the seasonis over, the coaches can remember manyof the important incidents that hap- pened. First the surprises: l. Largest squad to complete a football season for Johnston--38 in number. 2. Wonderful record of the reserve squad--undefeated in seven games. 3. Ability of the squadto learn a new formation and score the most points on record for the last three years. h. Backfield men taking in stride the playingixxthe line and doing a wonderful job. Disappointments: l. The failure to repeat as Conference Champions. Thrills: l. Long runs made possible by good blocking in the line and downfield. 2. Amazing punting average of forty-three yards for the season. 3. Placing eight boys on the All-Conference Squad. Yes, we hadan exciting season in l95h. In the short time a squadis togetherixlthe fall we experience many things that remain after it is over. Football makes men out of boys on the field. The coaching staff is proudto associate with the type of boy who volunteers to come out and work for the schooltcmmake a good football team. Our boys put the goodof the school and squadixmfirst place and did not care who got the gloryso long as they all work- ed together. For the past three years we have worked with the eight boys who have played their last football game for Johnston. We want to thank them, as well as the rest of the squad, for the cooperation they have shown in making the 195D season a successful one. We are looldng forwardto a good yearin 1955 and know that the athletes of Johns ton will carry on and bring more glory and victory to our school.
