The starting line-up for L the present Senior Class was Marilyn Bauman, Beverly Betz, Delores Christen- 1 son, Wanda and Waneta McDowell and Margaret Otto who, all freshly washed 1 and pressed, composed the feminine members of our class. Robert Shiffer, all ,' shined up and carrying his usual weapons of pea-shooters etc. was the only 5 member of the masculine gender of the Kindergarten of 1936. Didn't he have R fun! I can remember when they used to make us take naps on rugs laid on the t table, and we d1dn't even want to. Mean of them wasn't it? Now, if anybody Cf takes a nap on his desk he gets a book on the back of his head. Ah well, so 3 much for that grade. Miss Erickson took the rap for that job. 6 E At long last they made Lester Hesseltine come to school, and that made -f eight NL1'l KidsW'to push their way into the first grade. This year we really g started things going. You see, we were anxious to get to the third grade so t we could come back each night to kiss Miss George like Johnny Betz did. f We kept right on climbing the ladder of knowledge into the second grade V where Kenny Haifley joined us. By this time we were really rough 'n tough 'n ' hard to bluff. I'll never forget the time Ken Haifley threw Superintendent T Madden over the banister. He was expelled for three days. E The next year was the third grade and Miss Erickson. We were growing f fast. Now we had to wear shoes and leave our dogs and cats at home. Miss 5 Erickson always carried a billy-club and black jack to break up the gang Y fights which occured often. This was not the same Miss Erickson who bothered ' with us in the Kindergarten, however. Lucky girl! N In fourth grade we picked up a few more stragglers--Lee Baker Robert i Q Olsasky, and Sufica Bianchi. It was in this uneventful term that we were I tricked into viewing the health clinic--they even showed us their hypos and , how they worked'everybody had a sore arm so there were few fights that day. It 9 9 i In fifth 'grade Margaret Kirkpatrick joined our ranks. we had a good 4 teacher, Miss Jasper, but some guy named Sam Baker came along and stole her i from us. WOoh lah lah.' 3 As time marched on, we passed into the sixth grade. Our teacher Miss ,, I 5 Clausen, asked the school board to prohibit our playing cowboy and Indian 5 during school time. A few mothers complained when their children turned up 5 Wmissing in action.N A little runt called Jim Wheeler joined us that year, 5 but, you should see him now! He's a solid mass of muscle! Q We were all promoted on to the seventh grade. It was Mrs. Dowling and TE Mrs. Ballou who complained of headaches that year. They even made us take E back all the desks and books we had brought from the sixth grade. g The next year was the eighth grade. Now we could order around the sev- 5 enth grade. We were still in Junior High, so those two poor teachers hadn't S gotten rid of us yet. I guess nobody joined us that year, but we got along 5 okay. Ken Haifley had to show off again by being runner up in the annual State Spelling Bee. This was the great year for us, as we were preparing to Q go on to high school. This meant a great deal to us,because we would be with more people and could get into more fights. More fun! ' Ah ha. At last we did what nobody thought we could do. We crashed the E gates into the assembly. we did need a little help though, so we got Darrell S Ritchhart, Dean Bowen, Opal Boyer, Dick La Mar, and Evelyn and Chuck Siever. no 1 .4, H. T ' -'A A , . We were by far the strongest class in the assembly--until the initiation when the Seniors brought us down some. Miss Maxson took over the Job of sponsor that year. Our second year of high school was much better. We now had some under- classmen to push around. We were too glad to have Ted Miller Join us. Ted taught us all to jitterbug. Miss Fritz was our class sponsor. Our Junior year was marked by the addition of another member, Lewis Vertz. The big event of that year was the Junior Class play. We had parties after play practice and oh, what fun! Dean and Kirk got married one night while Ted played an Indian War Dance on the piano and Sufica acted as the knot-tier. We'll never forget the night after the play was over. Dean ran in and grabbed our teacher, Mrs. Sproul, and gave her a great big kiss. Of course all the other boys were after her,but she ran to her husband and they didn't get a chance. This was also the year that we threw the feed for the Senior Class--and we really threw it.They still don't have all of the gravy out of their hair. And nov we burst on that glorious year, l9H9, where mice become MEN, or something like that. We are Seniors, and Mrs. Scott is our sponsor. Every- body looks up to us. That is, everybody except Kenny Williams. We feel as though we were ready to leave and fast! So we say nGood luck' to everyone behind us, and may they be as lucky as we are.
