9 E 4 THE CHUIR ENjOY ED MUSIC A D SINGING In the music room The Sound of Music poured activity period as the fifty voices of the j.C . T .S . Choir, under the direction of Mrs. Fannetta S . McLean, rehearsed for their schedule of musical programs. As the Christmas season drew near, the Choir began preparation for many holiday activities. After presenting an entertaining program for the assembly, the Choir repeated the program for the annual Christmas Concert. l '

Band brought loyal I-Iawk fans to their feet and set in motion the wheels of many of Johnston County Training Schoolls sporting events . At all home and some away football games, the Band, which practiced evenings after school under the direction of Mr. john R. Windley, added gaiety to the events with spectacular half-time shows. These shows included music, marching, and various formations. In its cheerful maroon and gold uniforms, the Band was a familiar sight in some of the community's parades. The Band displayed its concert abilities in the District and State Festival. Thus receiving an A-1 rating for a number of years. ln the spring, the Band participated in the annual Outdoor Concert and also played for commencement. Last but not least, Hats Off to our director Mr. john R. Windley, for his leader- shipfand Guidance of the band. 30.
