ur Principal Speaks 113 South 5th Street Smithfield, North Carolina February 1, 1962 Members of the Class of '62 Johnston County Training School Smithfield, North Carolina Greetings: It is a source of genuine pleasure for me to congratulate you on the eve of your graduation from high school and to wish for each of you every possible success. Nothing gives me more consolation as your Principal than the signing of your diplomas, indicating the approval of the Superintendent, the Board of Education, and the members of the faculty in your achievements to date. We are hopeful that as many of you as possible will continue your formal training above high school. If you cannot go to college, we trust that you will be successful in finding employment from which you will be able to make an honorable living. However, you should explore all of the possibilities for scholarship before giving up your plans for further training. Just re member that if you really want to go to college now and have the ability to pursue a college education, a way can be found. Your personal determination is the most important factor. Have great faith and you will accomplish great things. One who possesses little faith usually accomplishes little things. Sincerely, Wm W. R. Collins Principal 4
