SIGNS OF SPARE TIME While at school, students atJ.C.C. have a variety of things to occupy their spare time. These events in- clude taking lunch or supper breaks, catching up on the latest gossip, or munching down on food pro- vided by clubs, the cafeteria services, or the snack machines. One of the exciting events for students who partic- ipate in the S.G.A. is the annual S.G.A. convention, which is held in a variety of cities throughout N.C. These conventions are not only a time of learning, but can also be a time for students from all over the state to get acquainted with one another. At Christmas time, the campus is exquisitely dec- orated with a variety of ornaments by the students of the Retail Floriculture program. The campus is really beautiful at this time of the year and is en- joyed by the students , faculty , and staff. 10

A SIGN OF CHRISTMAS What is red, green, gold, silver, and full ofpoinsettias? It is JCC at Christmas time! Every year the campus under- goes a facelift arouyid December. Santa (Mr. Bennett Barnes) sends his little elfs (students) down here to the JCC student lounge to spread the Christmas cheer. Beautifully decorated trees are put up, harmonious tunes are played by a band, and even the old “ Scrooge ” comes out to see all of the exciting events. THE JOHNSTON COMMUNITY College “Community Band ” rocks around the Christmas tree with their director John “Doc” Windley. EBENEZER SCROOGE (Tony Medlin) visits JCC after being scared by a ghost.
