FIELD DAY AND COOKOUT WAS A “BALL” The basketball games brought out some amazing athletes! In the photo at left , Mallie “ Luke Skywalker Umphrey executes a rim-rattling dunk of a soft- ball. They said it couldn’t be done. Maybe they were right. One of the best basketball contests during Field Day was between the Boston “Smelltics” and the L.A. “Fakers. Actual- ly, it looks a lot like the old shirts and skins game. Our new scoreboard broke during the game so no one knows what the final score actually was. That concrete is rough on your Reeboks! 15

FIELD DAY — NO WORK — ALL PLAY! May 27 dawned cloudy and gray but the weather did not haynper our spirits as festivities got under way for the annual Field Day and Cookout spon- sored by the Student Government Asso- ciation! A featured attraction was the Dunkin ' Booth which was manned by some hearty souls indeed as ivater tem- perature at 10:00 a.m. was about 32 degrees. Students paid 50 ceyits to throw balls at their ‘ favorite ” instructors. The action was wet ayid wild as funds were raised for Phi Kappa Pi to help send representatives to California to compete in national Phi Beta Lambda competi- tion. All the “ good sports” turned out to play a little volleyball, basketball and tug-o- war. There were also plenty of spectators who preferred to watch and wait for the burgers to grill! U
