2 3 4 DEDICATION MRS. BETTY HICKS SIMPSON We proudly dedicate the 1982-83 RETROSPECT to Mrs. Betty Hicks Simpson for her service to the students of Johnston Technical College. She has been a devoted teacher in the English Department for 12 years. Mrs. Simpson has won us all over, not only with her sense of humor, but with her devotion to helping her students. Her philosophy of teaching is: “I believe that the ' teacher-learning ' process can be fun; it does not have to be drudgery. I also believe that if no learning takes place, no teaching takes place. The teacher should be a human being first, then a teacher. The teacher should strive to motivate the student by instilling within him self-confidence.
