OOOtMfOOOf OOOMMOONI Retrospect 1972, Volume Two Johnston Technical Institute Smithfield, North Carolina 3 Students enjoy a number of extracurricular activi- ties which add excitement and more meaning to their learning experience. Opportunity exists for all to par- ticipate in clubs, sports, special projects, dances, and every-day socializing with fellow students. The Student Government Association promotes student ac- tivities and stimulates many aspects of student life beyond the classroom. 4 Johnston Technical Institute offers learning activities ranging from cultural enrichment courses to highly technical and vocational programs. Courses in sewing, ceramics, flower, ar- ranging, and many others are of general interest to the public. Our Adult High School Education Program enables adults to complete their high school education. Our vocational programs include Automotive Mechanics, Industrial Electronics Servicing, Practical Nurse Education, and Pre-Nursing Educa- tion; our technical programs include Accounting, Business Administration, Agriculture Science and Mechanization, Secre- tarial Science, and General Office Technology; and our General Education-College Transfer Option Program is offered through a contractual agreement between Campbell College and Johnston Technical Institute. 5 6 To the people of Johnston County, we dedicate this yearbook. You have provided us with more than an opportunity — more than a school — more than a hope — more than a dream. You have enabled us to become effective citizens. Your efforts to provide training for us beyond high school is deeply appreciated. As young adults, we are keenly aware of the effort that the citizens of Johnston County have exerted to bring about Johnston Technical Institute. Those of us who are students here will forever know that we had this opportunity because you made it possible. Therefore, we pledge to you that we will do our part in making our society a better place. We will remember that everything we accomplish will be because of you. To the people of Johnston County, we dedicate this yearbook. Thank you very much. 8 9 Johnston Technical Activities 10 Institute Is Programs 11 12 In its second year of operation, Johnston Technical Institute organized a haskethall team.
