On January 11, 1957, the students of St. Paris High School voted for the 5 girls who were to be in the Homecoming Court at the St. Paris - Salem basketball game on Friday, February 1, 1957. The Junior girls were Johann Allebach and Judy Borst. The Seniors were Susan Smith, 'Vivian Clester, and Linda Zerkle. The name of the Senior Girl who was chosen Queen was kept secret until the night of the game. At 6:45 p.m. on the night of the Homecoming, Miss Susan Smith was crowned Queen for 1957. The theme for the evening was Valentine's Day with red and white decorations. The Queen and her court were escorted by the first five varsity players, Jim Yontz, Neil Lantz, Kenny Myers, Phil Louden and Paul Hoffman. The crownbearer was Kim Stockton and Suzie Zerkle took over the duties of flower girl. The Senior girls wore white formals and the juniors wore red. The boys wore dinner jackets and black tuxedo trousers. There was a lovely Homecoming Dance following the varsity game with Dick Benson's orchestra supplying die music.
