SUPERINTENDENT LELAND HULL Mr. Leland Hull, superintendent, has two children, Linda and David. He finds enjoyment in traveling, hunt- ing, fishing, bowling, and reading cur- rent political material in magazines. Mr. Hull is interested primarily in good schools and education. Secondly, he likes to read and discuss political affairs of state, national, and international situ- ations. American problems and general busi- ness are the subjects Mr. Hull teaches. PRINCIPAL ROBERT SCHEMMEL Mr. Robert Schemmel finds he spends too much time in school work to have any hobbies. He teaches eighth grade arith- metic, chemistry, physics, general science, and advanced math. Baseball, farm work, and science are Mr. Schemmel's favorite pastimes. Mr. Schemmel has two sons, Gary and Bobby. COACH STIERS Mr. A1 Stiers, who is president of the Alumni Association of Peru State Teachers' College, devotes much of his time and efforts toward the betterment of that or- ganization. Besides interest in his wife and two sons, Steven Glen and Van Scott, Mr. Stiers likes to hunt and fish. Mr. Stiers teaches industrial arts and physical education. JUNIOR KARAS Mr. Junior Karas, who teaches music and English, is a member of the Masonic Lodge and Eastern Star. Mr. Karas' hob- bies are playing and repairing musical instruments, duck hunting, and fishing.He fishes for no special type of fish—just any- thing that will bite. The modem swing music of Les Elgart and his band is among the types of music Mr. Karas enjoys. But he does not like rock-and-roll singers who must imitate gui tar playing. 4» .4

School Board Roy Pohlman, farmer with a family of two boys is president of the Board of Education. His interests are sports, Farm Bureau, Sportsmen's Club, Church Council, PTA and Brotherhood of Zion Lutheran Church. Secretary Glen Burr is District Manager of the M M Livestock Products Company. Church, sports, and fishing are his interests besides rearing his one boy. Hunting and fishing are a few inter- ests which occupy the treasurer, Otto Rohrs, farmer. Other interests are Brotherhood of Hickory Grove Church and Farm Bureau, of which he is the chairman of the Johnson Unit. Two girls are in his family. Another school board member is farmer Alvin Haack. Sports, church, and his family of two girls and boy head his list of interests. Melvin Moerer, German Mutual Insurance agent and livestock farmer, has a family of three boys. Particular interests are Farm Bureau, Sportsmen's Club, Brotherhood of Zion Church, president of the Southeast Nebraska Area Brotherhood, American Legion, and Cub Master of Pack 394 Boy Scouts of America. He is interested in a progressive community--educationally, religiously and economically. Another farmer, Henry Bohlken, has a family of two boys and one girl. Mrs. MAXINE REMMERS Teaching home economics I and II, typing I, bookkeeping, office practice, and supervising shorthand correspondence is the work of Mrs. R. W. Remmers. Aside from rearing a family of four daughters, Joyce, Lois, Janice, and Jac- queline, Mrs. Remmers is a member of PTA, Women's Project Club, St. John's Lutheran Missionary Aid, and Farm Bu- reau. Mrs. Remmer's interests lie in her home and reading good books. COACH REMMERS Music and sports are the interests of Mr. R. W. Remmers, coach of girls'sports and teacher of history and mathematics. Mr. Remmers is vice-president of the PTA, treasurer of the Producers Livestock Commission Company, St. Joseph, Missouri and a member of Farm Bureau. The Remmers family attends St. John's Lutheran Church. Mrs. LEONA REED Mrs. Leona Reed has one daughter, Mrs. Fred Powers, Omaha. Mr. and Mrs. Reed are Gold Star parents having lost their only son in World War II. Mrs. Reed, whose hobbies are rock col- lecting and reading, teaches English and world geography, and serves as Johnson High Librarian. Mrs. Reed's interests are in her church, the Auburn Christian Church; her home, and family, education, and American Le- gion Auxiliary. Mrs. Reed has held local, district, and state offices in American Legion. At pres- ent she is a member of the Boys' and Girls' County Government State Board.
