CLASS PROPHECY cCOHtlHU9dD We arrzved at the platform and 1mmed1ately Mayor Boettcher mtroduced me to the audlence for approxlmately one half hour Before I reahzed what happened I had begun and concluded my talk After my speech was over and I had descended from the platform I mentloned to my compamons th1s mother and her fam1ly She looked so fam1l1ar I sald he should sa1d Janlce Don t you remember Betty Klockow'? Qu1ckly my mmd returned to my school days Betty was the petlte l1ttle mlss who was always gay carefree and full of fun My thoughts were lnterrupted when I caught slght of a low long sedan whlch drove 1n the dr1veway An attractxve blond stepped out and over the loud speaklng system announced that Mayor Boettcher was wanted 1n C1ty Hall xmmedlately It seems John Lund who has been elected Mr Flrecracker of 1980 was to lead a parade through town to Trachte Park but there was a cute blond who was walkxng ln frontof hlm and John forgot h1mself and led the parade mlles out of the way Mayor Boettcher told h1s chauffeur Mary Quest to locate John and try to lead h1m back to the park It was a d1ff1cult asslgnment but before we left the park that day Mary had lured John home As we contlnued walklng we notlced an odd mechamsm called a Loop O Plane operated by Sh1rleyAltreuter and Arletta Genz Arletta lured 1n the gentlemen cus tomers and once xt started operatmg Shlrley scooped up all the loose change wh1ch happened to fall from the unsuspectmg male customers pockets We thought thls r1de was a llttle rough for us so we declded to have somethmg to eat were m1x1ng together some unusual concoctlons but soon they got the better of us and we set out to look for a cold drmk stand The cold dr1nk stand was operated by Dorothy Roos and Roberta Buss Whlle we were wa1t1ng for our cold drlnks I notlced across from the park a huge br1ck bu11d1ng The slgn whlch hung over the entrance gate read Krause s Crowded Quarters What s that I asked Dorothy An old folk s home she replled It seems that Ros1e had been proposed to but she took too long to say yes She was now runnrng a home for the aged By thls tlme we had f1n1shed our drmks and started on our way home Just as we were about to leave the park we were stopped 1n our tracks A powerful vo1ce over the loud speaker was announclng Rabenhorst s Racmg Rabblts Come see these amazmg httle carrot cravers Only a nlckel to watch th1s amazmg spectacle Well naturally we had to see Glenn s rabbxts so we retraced our steps and pald h1m the f1ve cents When the race was fmxshed we were determxned to leave We made our way through the crowd and flnally got outslde the gate Mayor Boettcher s car was there and we were taken sw1ftly to Jamce s home Hastlly we pxcked up my luggage and started for the tram depot Sayxng good bye to Mayor Boettcher and h1s welcommg commlttee and all those who had made my day successful I boarded the Johnson Creek Llmlted Yes none of my classmates had become world famous yet they make up for what Amerxca represents 15 . . .-,, ..,,, ..,,S We found a small sandwich booth operated by June Blasing and Ruth Cromey.
