really professional teacher-that's Miss Elfa Shaul, who has presided over the Johnson City biology classes for forty years. Graduated from Syracuse University with a B.A. degree, Miss Shaul has since taken courses in as widely separated parts of our country as the University of Wisconsin and the Audubon Nature Camp in Maine, bringing back to her classes new insights every year. Former students, scattered all over this globe, remember her high standards in class, her keen interest in nature-and her sense of humor. They remember her as class advisor, as leader of field trips, as spon- sor of Biology Club and Science Congress exhibits. Present students crowd the biology laboratory, not realizing that this is the last year her dedicated teaching is going to be demanding their best. Her colleagues think of her leadership in the Southern Zone Science Teachers Associa- tion, her loyal participation in Johnson City Teachers Association and in New York State Teachers Association, her active support of the Natural- ists Club, of Roberson Memorial, of the Fine Arts Society, and of her church. Whether you were dissecting a fish or painting a landscape, manipulat- ing a microscope or wearing that Wildcat jersey to a game, ,Miss Shaul- we shall miss you!
