January 0lass llisforfy .,-,2 -j 'fx On January 1952 we became seniors and we had ...I our turn at kidding the Sophomores that had just come Right after becoming Seniors, we had our first class XL meeting and Bob Mitchell was elected Pres. with Frank Kaminsky, V. Pres.g Pat Kingsbury, Sec. and Jackie Simkulet, Treas. We talked of our Senior play which was coming up in May and ways which we could earn money for the picnic and graduation. Mrs. Brown introduced us to something new. Class Dues! Our subjects got even harder, the home- work even stiffer and the spare time hit a new low. b over feeling as bewildered and confused as we had. -4 a. We had several more meetings before the play fAct Your Agej which was about two sailors who unexpectedly dropped in on the two girls that they have been writing to for the weekend, The girls are only fourteen and the problems that come up for these sailors and the girls make for the best play in the history of J. C. fEven if we do say so ourselves.J After the play there was the usual round of parties at the girls' houses. These went on for several days after. During the play we all got a taste of what the playhouses on Broadway have to go through. The kids back- stage what with painting, carpentry, and worrying, fBarbara Merrill got the mumps you see and we were all afraid of her for the whole week of the playl. She worked just as hard as the actors did in making our play a success, Even the kids who didn't have time for working on the play helped by selling tickets. Some sold as high as 30 tickets. After the play we decided that we were still not over loaded with money and at the next meeting somebody suggested we have a dance to raise some more. It was decided to call it the Hobo Hop. We were even going to send Tom Edwards around town in a barrel to advertise it. But even without the barrel the dance was a hit with everyone. M, ...L nl 26
