Mrs. Brown introduced us to something new. Class Dues! Our subjects got even harder, the home- work even stiffer and the spare time hit a new low. b over feeling as bewildered and confused as we had. -4 a. We had several more meetings before the play fAct Your Agej which was about two sailors who unexpectedly dropped in on the two girls that they have been writing to for the weekend, The girls are only fourteen and the problems that come up for these sailors and the girls make for the best play in the history of J. C. fEven if we do say so ourselves.J After the play there was the usual round of parties at the girls' houses. These went on for several days after. During the play we all got a taste of what the playhouses on Broadway have to go through. The kids back- stage what with painting, carpentry, and worrying, fBarbara Merrill got the mumps you see and we were all afraid of her for the whole week of the playl. She worked just as hard as the actors did in making our play a success, Even the kids who didn't have time for working on the play helped by selling tickets. Some sold as high as 30 tickets. After the play we decided that we were still not over loaded with money and at the next meeting somebody suggested we have a dance to raise some more. It was decided to call it the Hobo Hop. We were even going to send Tom Edwards around town in a barrel to advertise it. But even without the barrel the dance was a hit with everyone. Only by mere chance had he discovered the camouflaged open- ing to the hidden cave, Now as he crept onward his mind dwelt on the treasure he knew lay con- cealed deep in the cave. It was but a matter of time until he would be rich. But somehow the cold clammy atmosphere and the murky black- ness tempered his spirits, Final- ly after groping around a sharp corner, he discerned with relief that the passage opened into a mammoth vault distinguished by a lofty arched ceiling. As he stepped backward with fear and surprise, he flashed his light towards the distant side of the cavern, In the glare of the glare, thousands of bats, aroused by his sudden entrance, circled erratically through the chamber, After swallowing a lump in his throat and staggering to his feet, he searched the far reaches of the cave for the treasure that he realized existed somewhere near him. To his left a large opening proved the existence of another entrance to the cavern. Near one wall a foot wide crevice indented the floor. As he reached into the aper- ture, his hand struck cold steel, With violent exertions he dragged a heavy case onto the base of the cave. Momentarily resting from his efforts he caught the muffled sound of distant footsteps and gutteral voices echoing through the adjoining corridors. The paces drew unmistakenly closer and closer. Panic gripped his heart. ... il: S' udem' Uouncil Q, Insert: Mary Hearon, president. Seated, main desk: John Nezelek, vice president. Row 1: Carole Klimash, Dean Haulton, Oz Winters. One of the greatest claims to fame for any Southern Tier football team is to have topped the famed J . C. Wildcats, This year a couple of the teams had a flicker of the limelight but they realize its a short-lived glory as another fall is coming and the Wildcats will be back as powerful and threatening as ever. Three cheers to the powerhouse squad, coached by Mr, Butkus, Mr, Ciesielski, Mr. Rising, and Mr, Ursprung. -- ' N fi?
