DEDICATION MOSES S. BELTON RETIRES Reverend Moses S. Belton, Director of Admissions at Johnson C. Smith University, retired in October of 1974 after thirty-two years of varied services to his Alma Mater. The 1933 honor graduate (1936 Theology) returned to Johnson C. Smith University in 1942 as Associate Dean of Men, and began a tenure of multiple services to the University. In 1943, additional responsibilities were added to his job analysis: instructor of Religious Education and Assistant Librarian. From 1946 to 1949 he served as Acting Registrar and Registrar, 1949-1950. In addition to his campus responsibilities he found time to become very active and render commendable services in community programs and projects. Among these were: Trustee of the Charlotte United Community Services, member of the Mayor ' s Community Relations Committee, Publicity Committee and Higher Education Committee of the Charlotte Chamber of Commerce and numerous others. Mr. Belton is best known, however, as Director of Public Relations, a position which he held :rom 1950 to 1970, and as Coordinator of Alumni Affairs. This latter responsibility endeared him imong the alumni across the country. Demonstrative of their affection was the testimonial uncheon which the General Alumni Association sponsored in his honor, October 5, 1974, in the Lounge of the University Memorial Building. Citations and gifts were presented to him by chapters, individual alumni and friends at large. Close by his side throughout this festive occasion stood his wife, Mrs. Cornelia Green Belton, his daughter and her husband, Mr. and Mrs. Canada and their two sons, David and Brian. It is in recognition of these notable achievements that the Bull Staff and the Senior Class of 1974-1975 are honored to dedicate this issue of The Bull to him.
