Johnson C. Smith University is more than. just an institution. While giving us intellectual stimulation, she has helped us to become better people. We ' ould not be what we are today had it not been for her. Smith has helped us to prepare for one of the most important days of our lives — tomorrow. We came to Smith with just oae purpose in mind — to be somebody. Because of her, that ' s not just a dream anymore. J.C.S.U. holds many memories for all of us. Now is the time to recognize ourselves and our world as they are and to look with determination toward what we and it can be. It is the time to place our faith not in something, but in life. We can change this world, if only by changing ourselves. From this point on, it is up to all of us to pursue life. If we seek true harmony with each other, each of us will be the oasis the other has been seeking. It is to those of you who are not afraid to reach out, those who can relate to one another, and are willing to work at letting each other know it, that we dedicate this 1973 edition of THE BULL. The Essence of Life is man and woman . . . giving, doing, growing, shar- ing, dreaming, hoping, seeking, flnding, feeling, believing, loving, daring to be themselves. Brothers and sisters, let there be life. DEDICATION We were both new and eager to prove that we could stand the pressure and accomplish the task that we had set out to do. And time proved us right. Dr. Newsom, you demonstrated not only ability, but you showed us another side not often seen by students in an educational institution. You showed us the human side. We could always depend on a warm smile and a heart handshake. Your doors were always open, ready and willing to listen to our complaints and problems. You were a friend to us when we needed a friend most. The Senior Class takes great pride in dedicating this edition of The Bull to you, Dr. Newsom, for trulv vou deserve it. DR. LIONEL H.
