Let a new earth rise. Let another world be born. Let a bloody peace be written in the sky. Let a second generation full of courage issue forth; let a people loving freedom come to growth. Let a beauty full of healing and strength affinal clenching be the pulsing in our spirits and our blood. Let the martial songs be written, let the dirges disappear, let a race of men now rise and take control. m w . Behold How Good It Is For Brethren To Dwell Together In Unity ... As Brethren we have dwelled together for the last four years striving, all, for one common goal. The goal being that of betterment, prosperity — and experience found within the realms of an education. As Brethren we met for the Hrst time on the hallowed grounds of our cherished alma mater Johnson C. Smith University. We encountered problems and obstacles unbearable; without unity we could not have pulled through and reached the purpose of our academic endeavors. To each of us, Johnson C. Smith has been our mother, our father our educator, and our friend in a time of need; one who claimed us as her own education-starved children. As children we became like brothers and sisters and finally uniting into one. Brethren. Dwelling together has matured us all, each realizing that as Brethren we are different and that we each are motivated by different but common elements. We have been a reflection of a changing modernistic time; when each man and each woman has faced the fact, accepted the change and welcomed the challenge. We soon will depart and go our separate ways leaving with a combination of intestinal fortitude, dedication, will power and anticipated curiosity of what the future may hold. Departing with the unforgettable thought . . . Fair Smith where ' er on earth we roam, Send forth thy constant ray. And let it beam with steadfast gleam. To lead us o ' er Life ' s way... Brethren, as a final farewell, I challenge each of you to this our class motto:
