The 1969 GOLDEN BULL has tried to present the complex pattern uf attitudes, values, and perceptions that compose today ' s Smithite. We have known Smith tor four years. We have been a part of the Centennial, and have witnessed the changes. In an effort to pay special tribute to old S.U., we chose to show our alma mater as a growing society. With the changes that have taken place, we wished to show you those things that are indicative of even greater things to come in this second century of service to the cause of higlier education. FOREWORD Eleven hundred and sixteen days have we been a part of JCSU. There are many things to be remembered. We will remember Freshman Week. We will remember the stand up, sit dovra , and the Ghost . Our sophomore year seemed a blur. These were the days that quickened through with Dr. Powe ' s notebook , rewards of greekdom, and campus offices. These things we will remember. These memories will linger forever. The recently passed junior days and nights of hard work and study made us a little more aware, a little more adult. The endless research and study for exams, the numerous sunrises seen through the haze of a smoke-filled room - these thijigs we will remember. The coffee, the smoke, the weary eyes, all were a part of our stay with JC . Sloshing across campus to the dining hall, the solid smack of a snowball, the sandals and mini skirts, the bluejeans, moccasins, and sunglasses, block hours , canteenology, and the famous wonder meat - all these things we will remember. Novembers remembered and Homecomings past are events we will treasure. Homecomings begun with a coronation, a groggy dawn dance and shuffling feet to loud music in a crowded gymnasium, will never be forgotten. Friends, alumni, and scotch all blended to complete our total education. These memories, by their sheer numbers will fade, but the lasting friendships we have made will remain foreve r, as we leave JCSU - a growing society.
