DEDICATION Vincent Edward Matthews Our Man in Mexico The class of 69 proudly dedicates this edition of the Golden Bull to Vince Matthews. This unassuming young man from Queens. New York, returned to JCSU from the World Summer Olympics held in Mexico City winner of a Gold Medal. This cinderman was the lead man on the United States team composed of Ron Freeman from the University or Arizona, Larry James from Villanova, and Lee Evans of San Jose State. The team smash- ed all existing records, as they were clocked at 2:56.1. The old world record was2;59.6. The Senior Class finds in Vince Matthews an identity long searched for. His achievement is a constant reminder of the challenge we all face as blacks. We are black, and we are proud; and with the same determination that our classmate has demonstrated, we shall succeed in future endeavors. Because of the challenge that Vincent Edward Matthews has given us, we proud- ly dedicate the 1969 BULL to lum.
