Festival fun . . . Working hard, Bobbie Trahan, Tammy Erbelding, and Sandy Salt- er design a billboard for an area business. ing by selling a foot to followers of the Rebels. The hard work came to an end on Friday, November 21 when the Harvest Festival was held in the gym. Following three hours of fun and games, the contestants and their escorts were presented to the audience. They were: Amanda Tra- han and Todd Jinks, Erica Laria and Bobby Constance, and Sandy Salter and Jeffery Tramonte. Last year's high school queen. Tiffany Romero crowned the new queen, Sandy Salter. Helping Tiffany was Melissa Trahan, the elementary winner for 1985-86. Together they presented trophies to the first and second runners-up, Amanda Tra- han and Erica Laria. Creatures of all kinds show up for the Halloween Dance given by Erica Laria. Dances, advertising signs, hayr- ides, a track meet and the usual raf- fles were some of the ways found to raise money for the annual Harvest Festival sponsored by the Athletic Association. With a sharp decline in the number of entrants for the queen's contest, the three lone con- testants sought to combine fund raising with fun. To raise money, Amanda Trahan and her ninth grade classmates held weekly dances at the Commu- nity Center. With the help of her parents, Amanda also provided hayrides around the community. In her first year at JBHS, Erica Laria made friends quickly by be- coming a contestant. Students es- pecially enjoyed Erica's Halloween dance held in the school gym. Supported by her classmates, Sandy Salter, a new student, brought some fresh ideas to fund raising. She led off with a track meet for runners of all ages. Sandy and the rest of the junior class com- bined fund raising with spirit rais-

Amidst Frills And Hearts Valentine's Day was a busy day for contestants in the annual Sweetheart Pageant sponsored by the FHA Club. Entrants in both di- visions met early in the day with a panel of three judges to be inter- viewed. After some last minute practicing, the girls returned home to dress for the pageant held in the school gym. As all eyes focused on stage, each smiling contestant introduced her- self to the waiting audience. To ful- fill a requirement added to the pag- eant this year, each girl delivered a speech she had prepared. After judging the girls on poise, appearance, and speaking ability, the judges chose Sherry Goodwin as the high school queen and Jessi- ca Logan as the elementary queen. Runners-up in the high school di- vision were Sandy Salter and Betsy Koppie. In the elementary division, they were Reesa Badon and Jenni- fer Trahan. Other high school contestants were Eva Comeaux, Tonya Logan, Becky Cory, Erica Laria, and Eliza- beth Comeaux. Elementary contestants also in- cluded Janella Trahan, Diane Fore- man, Heather Trahan, Regina McGee, Melanie Duhon, Britney Trahan, Beth Skidmore, Jodi Wells, Selina McGee, Sarah Griffith, Bobi Calhoun, Jennifer Blanchard, Me- lissa Trahan, Brandy Trahan, Jean- nie Garber, Summer Hicks, Tonya Jinks, Raedella Badon, Casey Ro- berson, and Jessica Kellum. On stage for some last minute prac- tice, Regina McGee, Sarah Griffith, Diane Foreman, Melanie Duhon, and Selina McGee practice their smiles, too. Nervous about her upcoming inter- view, Regina McGee sneaks a peek at the judges. Winners in the elementary divi- sion: Reesa Badon, First runner-up; Jessica Logan, queen; Jennifer Tra- han, second runner-up. ■ r a it 'G 30
