The hard work came to an end on Friday, November 21 when the Harvest Festival was held in the gym. Following three hours of fun and games, the contestants and their escorts were presented to the audience. They were: Amanda Tra- han and Todd Jinks, Erica Laria and Bobby Constance, and Sandy Salter and Jeffery Tramonte. Last year's high school queen. Tiffany Romero crowned the new queen, Sandy Salter. Helping Tiffany was Melissa Trahan, the elementary winner for 1985-86. Together they presented trophies to the first and second runners-up, Amanda Tra- han and Erica Laria. Creatures of all kinds show up for the Halloween Dance given by Erica Laria. Dances, advertising signs, hayr- ides, a track meet and the usual raf- fles were some of the ways found to raise money for the annual Harvest Festival sponsored by the Athletic Association. With a sharp decline in the number of entrants for the queen's contest, the three lone con- testants sought to combine fund raising with fun. To raise money, Amanda Trahan and her ninth grade classmates held weekly dances at the Commu- nity Center. With the help of her parents, Amanda also provided hayrides around the community. In her first year at JBHS, Erica Laria made friends quickly by be- coming a contestant. Students es- pecially enjoyed Erica's Halloween dance held in the school gym. Supported by her classmates, Sandy Salter, a new student, brought some fresh ideas to fund raising. She led off with a track meet for runners of all ages.
