At one time this was the most often asked question of students and faculty when away from home. This is no longer the case. Today, our school and community are known throughout the state and in many parts of the United States. Early in the school year, Angela Touchet traveled to Lexing- ton, Kentucky to compete in a national 4-H contest. She won the National Junior Horiculture Association in Use Demonstra- tion. Upon her return, the Cameron Parish Police Jury named November 7, 1985, “Angela Touchet Day”. Angela and her brother Jude also spent six days at the Na- tional Young Leaders Conference in Washington, D.C. Recog- nized for outstanding leadership and academic performance, Jude and Angela were among the 180 students chosen from the United State to participate in the week’s activities. Competing in area pageants, students brought further recog- nition to our school and community. Angela Touchet, Shontel Blanchard and Joanie Constance entered the Cal-Cam Queen’s Contest in October. Shontel was voted Miss Personality and Joanie was was a semifinalist in the Junior Division. Chosen Little Mr. and Miss Johnson Bayou, Trevor Trahan and Radella Badon competed for the title of Little Mr. and Miss Cameron Parish at the Fur and Wildlife Festival in January. Trevor was crowned Little Mr. Cameron Parish. Entering the Miss Cameron Parish contest were Shontel Blan- chard and Angela Touchet. Angela was chosen third runner-up. Shontel received the Miss Personality award and was crowned Miss Cameron Parish. As Miss Cameron Parish, Shontel trav- eled to Maryland as a guest of the National Outdoor Festival. With these accomplishments and numerous other athletic and academic achievements, Johnson Bayou is also in the spotlight. As a semifinalist for Junior Cal-Cam Queen, Joanie Constance smiles for the judges. In Washington, Angie Touchet met Louisiana Congressmen John Breaux. Jude Touchet (far left) and two new friends attend conference activities. 4 Presented to the audience during the Louisiana Fur and Wildlife Queen’s Contest, Shontel Blanchard makes her entrance as the new Miss Cameron Parish. In his royal attire. Little Mr. Cameron Parish Trevor Trahan shows oft his winning smile. Winning the Little Miss Johnson Bayou title, Raedella Badon competed for the Little Miss Cameron Parish title. 5 Honor Awards BARRY BADON Science English SHANE BLANCHARD Math CHERELLE DUHON Physical Education WALLY ERBELDING Biology, Math, Physical Education RICKY HARRINGTON Typing BETSY KOPPIE President’s Academic Fitness Award Social Studies DAWN MCRIGHT Home Economics Social Studies CAUSE ROMERO Salutatorian President’s Academic Fitness Award TIFFANY ROMERO President’s Academic Fitness Award ANGIE TOUCHET Valedictorian President’s Academic Fitness Award Home Economic Business Education APRIL TRAHAN Science (7th 8th) KRISTINA TRAHAN Reading (7th 8th) SONJA TRAHAN President’s Academic Fitness Award Reading, Math, English, Science (7th 8th) STEPHANIE VINING President’s Academic Fitness Award Assistant Principal Ron Vining — Administration Principal Howard Romero Cameron Construction Co., Inc. Named to the 8-C All District squad, Rodney finished the season with a 13.5 average. Posting a 7-4 district record, the varsity captured 2nd place in District 8-C. While Rodney set a new school record of 12’9”, Ricky won top honor at state. 44 Track Hard work and determination brought home two state cham- pionships. The Lady Rebels capped their second consecutive team title by scoring 77 points, knocking out Maurepas by 15 points. The boys had to share the title with Bienville on 68 points. Bienville, after sweeping the re- lays, seemed to have the title. The difference came in the triple jump where Bienville lacked re- presentative and the Rebels had a two-point fifth place from Clay- ton Jinks. The Rebels entered the state meet with an impressive list of qualifiers. The boys qualified in 18 events; the Lady Rebels in 14 events. Depth proved to be their best asset. The efforts of the boys included one first, one sec- ond, four thirds, four fourths, and five fifth places. The only first came from Ricky Harrington in the pole vault. The Lady Rebels team effort included four firsts, five thirds, two fifths and three sixth places. Winning first place individual awards were Angie Trahan in the shot, Cherelle Duhon in the 100 M hurdles, and Stacey Jinks in the high jump. Stacey also set a state record at 5’0”.
