PRINCIPAL’S MESSAGE Each year we set high goals for Johnson Bayou High School and try to improve all aspects of our programs. This school year has been a banner year for our school. In academics, we became a LEARN model school in reading. Teach- ers, students, and parents spent many hours working to achieve model school status as set forth by the 17 Criteria of Excellence. In March, our school was evaluated by a team of educators from throughout the state, and we were certified as a LEARN model school by the State Department of Education. Our school was also awarded a certificate from the International Reading Association as one of the few schools in the state of Louisiana to obtain this level in reading. In athletics, we were very well represented in all sports. Our basketball teams, wrestling teams and track teams faired well against all competition, with the track teams having the most success. The Lady Rebels finished 1st in Parish, District, Region- al, and State. The Rebel boys finished 1st in Parish, District, and Regional and 2nd in State. This is an accomplishment unheard of for any school, that is to be strong in both the girls' and boys' track teams in the same year. We are proud of all of our accomplishments. The success belong to you—the students, coaches, teachers, and parents at Johnson Bayou—and I SALUTE YOU. We look forward to the support from parents and friends to continue the improvements we project for Johnson Bayou High School. Keep up the good work, stand together, and make next year better than all others. Thank you, Howard Romero, Principal
