Kindgarten 2 DSDjeAZJOtf A follow Classmate Jh Our hearts .. . eyNZHM 1CAD0JV 6th grade This year the Senior Class and the Year- book Staff would like to dedicate this year- book to a special friend, Cynthia, a very dear friend in our hearts. We will always remember the happy games we played and the joy we shared together. We miss her and think of her in everything we do. She always had a friend in everyone and a bright smile, too. So this year we would like to share this very, special memory with you. WE LOVE YOU AND MISS YOU, CYNTHIA SHE IS JUST AWAY 1 cannot say, and will not say That she is dead. She is just away. With a cheery smile, and a wave of the hand. She has wandered into an unknown land And left us dreaming how very fair It needs must be, since she lingers there. And you-oh, you, who the wildest yearn For an old-step, and the glad return. Think of her faring on, as dear In the love of There as the love of Here. Think of her still as the same. I say, She is not dead - She is just away. James Whitcomb Riley.

pKwmcs MtssAQe As we complete each year, we look back and reeva- luate our successes and failures. We use this knowl- edge to better prepare ourselves for the next year. Many things happened during 1983-84 that we, as teachers, parents, and students of Johnson Bayou High School, should be proud of. In athletics we have made a name for ourselves. Johnson Bayou Rebels are no longer a far-out-of-the- way place that no one knows about. We are respected HOWARD ROMERO, PRINCIPAL by teams jn our Qass ,n aH sports. The addition of a bronze statue of our mascot. General Robert E. Lee, in front of the school should give all Johnson Bayou people something to be proud of. This replica should represent the strength, dedication, and desire that all peoples of Johnson Bayou have and leave no doubt in other schools' minds that the Rebels are real and are here to stay. In the field of academics, Johnson Bayou School is striving for a rating of Excellence in the SPUR Reading Program. We must be rated as Excellent in 17 criteria to be rated Excellent. Teachers have worked hard to accomplish this goal, and we feel this will be accomplished in 1984-85. The hard work is all worth it if we can improve the reading skills of our students and improve their education. As we close the doors for this year, we wish to thank all the parents, teachers, and students for the successes we have had and to challenge them to help make 1984-85 even better. 3
