THE SKYHAWK. Volume III I.isa C arlson. Editor 2(X 2 West Kin wood Road McHenry. Illinois AOOV) Skyhawk Roundup The Roundup theme of the 1980-81 Skyhawk helps to express the closeness that prevails among students, faculty, and administration of Johnsburg High School. The school is the focal point of the Roundup”. It is the place where people gather and where they attempt to achieve worthwhile goals in both curricular and extra-curricular activities. The cowboy hats, which first appeared on the scene during the first-year school’s championship basketball season in 1978- 79, have become the symbol of Burger Town spirit. The goal of this third-edition Skyhawk is to round up in words and pictures some of the highlights of the 1980-81 school year. 2 Spring Supplement Students arrive at school Many people ride the busses to school. Others drive with friends. (From left: Marty McMullins. M.J. Anderson, and Sally Oeffling.) 6 Sue Sroka appears to be clowning around on her way to class. . . . and venture to classes. In August they attended camp at Carroll College, where they learned many new rou- tines. During the year, the girls per- formed routines to songs such as: I Need Your Loving” Stop That Game,” Soul Man, Hit Me With Your Best Shot, and Games People Play. They also held two clinics for girls, grades kindergarden through eighth. The elementary school girls were taught routines; and after they were learned, they performed them for their parents. The Squad’s proudest moment was when it won a third place trophy for the prop routine performed to Short People.” The trophy was received while competing against 25 other squads in New Berlin, Wiscon- sin.
