No, not the prom, it was John North ' s first annual, semi-formal. Mid- winter Ball. The Midwmter, as students called it, was different from the prom in many ways. Not only was the dress semi-for- mal, but freshman and sophomores were allowed to attend. It ' s only fair, said sophomore David Hasegawa. The upperclassmen have the prom. Addi- tionally, while the prom is usually held quite a distance from North, the Mid- winter took place at the UCR Com- mons. USL designated the Ball as Sadie Haw- kins — girls ask the boys.
