.. Victory sparked the night’s celebration. Saturday was the peak of the spirit filled week. Early that morning, the organizations of the campus met at the stadium with their float entries for the parade. With the winner announced as the Gamma Sigma Sigma en- try, the parade began. The route of the parade took the groups through the town ‘square where students, friends, family, and town residents took delight in watching the passing of the floats. Students given the hon- or of riding in the parade showed their ap- lpreciation for the Stephenville residents by | throwing candy to the children who lined the streets. Students, Faculty, and Alumni alike gathered at the stadium to support the Tex- ans. The fans were not to be disappointed. With the final score 38 to 22 over the McMurry Indians, the Tarleton Texan victo- ry gave the fans reason to celebrate. Stu- dents were given a choice of two dances, one rock and one country, while alumni had a dance of their own. The student dances were held on campus, one in the Student Center and the other in the Intramural Gym. The alumni gathered at the Armory for their Homecoming dance. The family feeling, the pride in Tarleton State University, and the unity of spirit were all evident throughout the week as student, faculty, and friends participated in the activities. The devotion of the fans for the Texans was answered by their victory over the Indians. Homecoming 1986 was one to remembered, both for the uniqueness of having two queens as well as two dances, and for the victorious ending to the game Saturday. to help the Texans in their victory by the Texan cheerleading squad and the Pur- ple Poo. The fans in the crowd were also involved in cheering the team onto victo- ry. The popular Purple Poo continued their tradition of entertaining the crowd as their antics on the sidelines kept the fans laughing throughout the game. The Tarleton Texans thrilled their fans with a victory for the 1986 Homecoming celebration. Megaphones, Frisbees, and Footballs were distributed to the crowd during the game. Fall —— 29
