Howell became chief administrative officer of Tarleton State College in 194-5. During this twenty year period he has witnessed the most rapid and significant growth in the college's history. Extensive construction of modern facilities including rnen's and wom- en's dormitories, the Agriculture Building, the Library, and Tarleton Centerg acquisition of many acres of property important to the college's continued physical growth 5 and the develop- ment of a faculty staff that has increased appropriately in number and in excellence are all major contributions to progress that under President Howell's leadership have culminated in today's outstanding senior institution, Tarleton State College.
